Kaito Momota planned all his life to be the Ultimate Astronaut, that was why he was immediately sent off to space as soon as he graduated Hope’s Peak Academy and completed his astronaut training. Kaito had spent several years up in a space station until his crew found that communication with Earth was strangely cut out. Unfortunately his crew made the decision to return to earth since this error could be dangerous to leave unfixed.

Kaito and his crew had a rough landing back on Earth, it was completely unplanned and they crashed into a town. Kaito only had a small glimpse of how society changed over the time he was gone before he blacked out.

Kokichi Ouma, now known as Ouma, had become the leader of the entire world. Kaito knew Ouma as a former classmate but he never thought he could actually take over the world. In hindsight, Ouma had been reseaching lots of history back at school, wanting to not make the same mistakes as previous leaders. Ouma isn't even considered evil compared to the standards of previous leaders and even made improvements, though he still kept of refering to himself as 'evil.'

Kaito and his crew were captured by DICE officers, since their space shuttle was considered a UFO by them, he did just crash randomly into a town with no warning after all. Now Kaito was taken into DICE headquarters, he was kept in some kind of dark room until Ouma was notified.

“What... Is this? I don’t belong here...” Kaito muttered as he heard a locked door open which let Ouma enter the room.
