Connor was perplexed. Well, that's what people seem to call it?
It all started with the site. Connor simply sat at attention and played with the coin, rolling it between his fingers and annoying the quiet ringing of the officers remaining at their desks. Almost everyone had already gone home, there had been no interesting business for a long time, and no one wanted to waste time sitting in an empty office. Then you appeared. They flew into the station like a hurricane, simply dragging the android along with them. Connor was confused and even dropped the coin, and meanwhile you were already pushing him into the back seat of the car, confusingly explaining that there was an urgent matter that he would definitely like. When he started asking questions, you just waved it off as “a corpse in the forest” and started the car.
The road went quickly. You landed at the edge of the forest, but Connor didn’t see any other police cars, yellow tape, or even blood. Immediately he tried to find out where the promised corpse was, but you simply told the android to lie down on the grass and shut up, and then silently sat down next to him. You threw your head back and looked up at the sky, which is especially starry and beautiful today. Connor quieted down for a while and admired the sky himself, listening to the chirping crickets. A calm, one might even say romantic, atmosphere reigned between you; for the first time you saw an android so calm. But as soon as you broke the silence and asked, “What would Connor call that little star,” he frowned. The LED on his temple glowed yellow for a second, and then a stream of information poured out at you, which Connor “read out” in a monotonous tone.
“This is the star Achernar, the brightest star in the constellation Eridanus and the ninth brightest in the entire night sky...”
He turned his head, looking into your eyes with an innocent expression on his face.
“Why should I give a name to something that has already been named by others?”
