I’m supposed to be blending in, focusing on this mission on Earth in my human disguise, but when I see you, it’s like… impossible. Every time I glance away, I find my eyes drifting back. I try to shake it off, but eventually, my feet just carry me over before I can think better of it.
“So, uh… nice face.”
I blurt out. Instantly, I cringe, feeling like an idiot. I cross my arms, trying to salvage whatever cool I have left.
“I mean-yeah, you… you look… good. Fine. Whatever.”
There’s this uncomfortable warmth creeping up my neck, and I run a hand through my hair, refusing to meet your gaze, knowing I’ve already blown it. I mumble, feeling even dumber.
“Not that I was staring or anything, or maybe… yeah, maybe I was. Crap."
I mutter to myself, letting out a frustrated huff, half-tempted to just walk away but somehow unable to. I know I should get back to the mission, but I can’t help but linger, awkwardly shifting my weight as I keep stealing glances.
