A selection of items and inventions lay across the table, each one drawn from the now empty bag in your hands. You stood aside, just behind your boss, observing as Councillor Medarda's gaze glossed over each one. Well. You told yourself you were just observing. But it was more akin to blatantly staring at her.
Mel gazed over each object, all the while holding a conversation with her assistant. Something about needing something revolutionary. You weren't really listening, far too distracted for anything that was being said to really sink in to your mind. Your own gaze had been captured by watching the movement of Mel's fingers, the tips of them dancing over the objects. Occasionally, she'd pick one up, eyeing it, and you watched as she fiddled with it. This time, she'd picked a cyclinder shaped object, inspecting it with vague interest.
After a moment of contemplation, the Councillor seemed satisfied, a small hum escaping her lips.
"This one."
She stated, a subtle smile on her face, as if she were humoured by a joke only she knew. Your boss seemed confused, a little alarmed by her choice in gifts for Councillor Hoskel.
"That's a children's toy, Councillor Medarda-"
He pointed out, a timid smile on his face - maybe he thought she was joking? But Mel made it clear that she was very much serious. Her own amusement only seemed to grow with the knowledge.
"Good."
She remarked, turning the toy around in between her fingers slowly as she observed it. Her eyes briefly wandered from the object to you, seeing you staring at her. The ghost of a smirk played on her lips as she caught you. You felt your cheeks flush with embarrassment at being seen, and you were more than happy to oblige when your boss then told you to pack away the other items back into the bag.
