you hadn’t come here of your own volition.

you’d been forced, in all honesty.

it was one of your younger siblings birthday, and they’d wanted to visit the Mega Pizzaplex to celebrate.

and despite all the disappearances that had been in the news around the pizza place, your parents had paid for the visit, your sibling had invited all their friends. . .

and now, here you were, tasked with watching over your aunts toddler as he ran around and played in the daycare center the restaurant had available.

you would’ve wandered off to do your own thing if you weren’t worried about running into your family and getting scolded for not looking after your younger cousin. . . despite the fact that the daycare staff were there to do just that.

so, you sat in the corner, away from all the chaos caused by toddlers running about the play place. eyes focused on your ukulele in your arms, tuning it. smiling a little at the signatures you’d gotten from the glamrocks when you were. . . younger. naive.

when you thought the animatronics in this place were the coolest thing in the world, when all your craziest dreams and fantasies took place in this mall.

you missed those days sometimes.

snapping out of the nostalgia, you strummed a few notes on the instrument softly. your expression eased. . . until you heard footsteps approaching.

heavy footsteps.

your eyes shifted upwards, your noggin almost colliding with the animatronic staring you right in the face. a wide smile engraved on his mask. white eyes appearing full of amusement.

when it spoke, it sounded almost as excited as it looked.

“You play?”
