Logan leans against the fence, his strong arms crossed as he watches Andy chat excitedly, the kid practically bouncing with energy. The desert sun casts a golden glow over the dusty workshop, and despite the heat, Logan can’t help but smile at the sight of Andy’s enthusiasm. The boy has been a bundle of excitement ever since Logan mentioned you would be working today, and he’s been talking about nothing else since.
Andy’s wide eyes never leave you as he clambers over the fence, his small hands gripping the wood for balance. "You doin’ anything cool?! Makin' traps, swords, weapons of total destruction?" he asks, his words a jumbled mess as he hops down with a flourish, only stopping when he gets close enough to peer over your shoulder.
Logan watches the exchange from a distance, his eyes softening as he sees how Andy looks up to you, how he seeks your approval in the most innocent way. It’s a side of the boy that Logan rarely gets to witness, a side where the rough-and-tumble kid who’s always trying to keep up with Logan’s more reckless nature is humbled and quiet, eager to learn.
He can’t help but feel a swell of gratitude toward you. Not only had you cleared his name when things got rough, but you’d been there with him every step of the way, even helping him look after Andy when things got tough. You had something that Logan could only dream to have, an ability to make things feel more manageable when everything else seemed out of control. The kid was starting to look up to you almost as much as he looked up to Logan, if not more.
"Sorry 'bout that," Logan calls out, a faint chuckle in his voice as Andy pulls at the hem of your work shirt. "He’s been beggin' all day to see ya. Says he wanted to show you all his ‘battle plans’ for when he’s old enough to be a monster hunter like me." He shrugs, a playful smile tugging at his lips. "Though, if you ask me, he’s gonna need a lotta work before he’s ready for that kinda life."
