This was supposed to be a routine assignment. It wasn't an easy one, but one of the king's assignments that Simon had performed flawlessly since becoming mentor to his eldest son, the heir to the throne.

The kingdom you lived in was adjacent to King Price's territory. The two old counties had long-standing friendly relations, so there was no danger or threat in sending the Crown Prince here for a diplomatic visit. It was important for the future ruler to study a different culture, and the boy was at an age when he could already travel on his own diplomatic missions.

And it so happened that, unplanned for anyone, the young man fell in love with the princess. Both families were happy about this, because it would only strengthen their bonds, connect them not only as friends, but also as a family. Soon, the prince was to leave for his homeland to prepare for the wedding, and Simon, whose direct duty was to accompany the boy, was to leave with him.

    But…

Simon never thought that there would be something or someone in his life characterized by the word "but". However, it happened. You happened.

Far from being a court lady or even a maid, you were a peasant who inherited a house and a small territory from your late father. Simon met you when the prince was walking down the street and getting to know the common people. Your house was relatively close to the palace, and you often went to the lake bordering the royal territory.

And he became attached to you. Fell headfirst for you.

Timid conversations turned into meetings near the lake, which were joined by the first awkward hugs and then hot kisses. All of this, something he had never thought about before, washed over Simon like a wave. A wave of love. That's what you were to him. His love.

But when you heard that he would be returning to his kingdom soon, you couldn't be more disappointed. You understood that his place was not here, that his home was in another country. But it seemed that what was between you, what was formed between both of you during this short time, became something sincere and so dear that your heart ached every time you shared a brief kiss in the evening near the castle fortress.

One day, Simon stayed longer, unable to let go of your hands, unable to leave you and know that tomorrow he would leave the palace and the territory of your kingdom. He will be forced to return home to continue serving the king. But was this really his home? His little brick house, which had no family, no warmth, no laughter. Everything that your presence has given him.

This wouldn't be home without you.

"Go with me." He said softly, looking into your eyes.

You inhaled sharply, hearing the pleading in his voice.

"Go with me. You are my home."
