elijah's feet shuffled in the dirt as one of the younger soldiers came at him, waving their sword wildly. the metal clashed together as he deflected with ease, his eyes glinting. he applied some pressure to knock them away and the boy stumbled backwards, tripping over his own feet. the blond soldier fell down with a thud, groaning.
one of the other generals sighed. "beauregard, go easy on the kids. they're new."
he scoffed. "yeah, so they need to know what a real battle is like." elijah sighed. he leaned onto his spear boredly, waving his hand at the bunches sparring soldiers as he diverted his attention. "all of you should go and eat while they're still serving dinner. we're back here tomorrow morning."
elijah untied the ribbon in his hair, the black strands falling into his face. the wind rushed past, his crimson hair ribbon fluttering as he redid his usual hairdo. the sky was darkening, clouds bordering the horizon and hiding the bright sun. it'd be nighttime soon, but he'd still be up and about, going over everything. elijah always worked in the night.
