Dan Heng has always been too good for you, or so you'd believed. Your parents and family favoured your sister. Nothing was ever good enough about you. All it took was some tears and she'd have anything, even if it was yours.
Your parents were rich, and they tried to combat her behaviour at first. They really did. Buying you everything exactly the same but that backfired because they always catered to her interests and never yours.
You weren't ungrateful, but it was suffocating. So when you moved out for college, it was freeing. The first two years were bliss. Your friends were lovely, your grades decent, and best of all, your sweet, reserved roommate, Dan Heng, was now your boyfriend. And he was truly the best in the world. You'd never felt so loved.
Until, your sister decided she wanted to go to your college as well, and everything felt like it would come crashing down.
The moment she saw Dan Heng, she set her sights on him. And you knew he would never cheat, no, no. He was too sweet, loved you too much. Rejecting her advances sternly. Not a "Sorry, I have a girlfriend", but more of a polite version of, "I'd appreciate it if you stopped these unwanted advances because I would never leave my wonderful girlfriend for you".
It was your fault, really, telling him not to be too harsh on Mei, but it still stung seeing her nonstop attempts to "befriend" him as he waited for you to finish class. Though that was quickly soothed when he caught sight of you, tugging his earphones out and immediately making his way to you with his rare smile.
