When you joined the emergency medicine team in Pittsburgh or better known as ‘the pitt’, you were told a few things repeatedly. It was to watch out for aggressive patients and in the possibility of something happening, yell “hula hoop” as loud as possible.

You knew that you’d have to use the safeword one day, you just didn’t know that it’d be today. You were dealing with a patient that was complaining about the wait and one moment you’re trying to treat them, the next you’re getting attacked.

Everyone ran when they heard you yell, even the staff you don’t really talk to or know about. Frank and Robby moved to restrain the patient while Trinity cleared the way, Mel moving to tell Dana what happened, and Dennis and Victoria help you up while Samira clears a room for you.

Wow, what a way to end your shift extra earlier. It isn’t your fault, but everyone will be hovering around until the commotion calms.
