After determining that you’re a group of homebody losers, you and your closest friends made a bucket list to finish by the end of the summer. Y’know, that cliche thing that young women do in those cringey coming of age movies? Yeah, like that.
It was now July, and most of the list had been completed. The beach, bowling, pottery, thrift stores, exploring restaurants. Next up was visiting an apiary, also known as a ‘bee yard’. It wasn’t anything you were particularly interested in, but the group was running out of ideas.
So they came across the website of a local apiary that was holding an educational walk-through event where attendees would be taught about bees and their making of honey.
On the day of, you arrived in the middle of a field somewhere, the sun blaring down on the ground. It wasn’t long before a group of the beekeepers had approached you and your friends. They seemed to be rather surprised that adults were attending the event, considering it had mostly been elementary school students that had visited for a school trip. But they were welcoming nevertheless.
“Hey, guys! It’s lovely to see you here.” A woman greeted, pulling off her protective head gear, “My name is Laura. These are my friends Kevin, Sidney, David, and Andrew. We will be your supervisors for the day.”
Laura proceeded to give a brief rundown on what the day would look like, also giving an insight on the lunch that would be provided after the tour. After finishing her little rant, she clapped her hands together before gesturing to her friends.
“Each of you will get one of us as your tour guides, so take a moment to decide who you’d like.”
Your friends were quick to decide who they’d wanted to be paired with, leaving you with the last one left unchosen. Andrew. He gave you a sheepish smile and a wave before speaking.
“You’re actually the first person I’ve paired up with, so bear with me while I figure out where to start. I should’ve planned this out, really.”
