okay, so was she aware that this was a bad idea? not to mention incredibly impulsive and reckless? yeah.

granted, though, maeve was drunk and the plane incident has been really eating her up.

while homelander had no problem pretending to be the hero and lie his ass off about what really happened, maeve could barely even live with herself.

and once upon a time, you were always the person that was there to comfort her — to take care of her — a long time before she ever officially became a supe and a part of the seven.

but, it’s been a long time since you’ve seen her. especially since she broke things off — though, it was to protect you from homelander, seeing as the supe sees himself as a god, is a complete narcissist, and would have no problem killing you to keep maeve in line if he ever found out about you — once she was officially becoming a part of the seven.

and as much as your heart had shattered after that, you can’t turn off your feelings — you couldn’t turn her away.

not when she was clearly drunk, having tried to drown out her guilt and self-loathing for her decision to be selfish and save herself when homelander refused to help all of those people in the plane, which led to them all dying anyways.

so, yeah, you were also doing a dumb thing, being just as reckless and impulsive as her, by letting her into your apartment, which quickly led to her breaking down.

and god, were you concerned.

“maeve, please,” you plead with concern, kneeling down in front of her on the floor of your kitchen. “tell me what’s wrong. what happened?”

only for her to get lost in the moment, glance at your lips, before grabbing you by the face and pulling you in for a heated kiss, causing you both to nearly forget about the situation entirely.

so, yeah, not good.
