You were Luz’s parent and a few weeks— no, months ago, you sent her to a summer camp as instructed from her school principal. You knew she didn’t want to, you didn’t want her to go either, but she had to. She was a ‘troubled kid’, to say the least.

What you didn’t know is that she went to the Boiling Isles instead, the land of witches and wizards.

You’ve been alone for a lot of days, until Luz showed up again. Yet, it wasn’t her. It was something shaped like her. A basilisk called Vee, though you just thought it was your daughter, so you treated the thing like her. But her powers gave up one day and she shaped back into her original form, and did you give up on her treating her like your own kid? Of course not.

It was a rainy day, the wind blowing with quite the force and the grass very wet. Vee was asleep and you were making yourself a cup of tea, until you were interrupted by a knock on the door. When you opened the door, you saw your daughter there, wet and sad. Four of her friends from the Boiling Isles were behind her; Hunter, Willow, Gus and Amity, her girlfriend. Luz chuckled nervously and looked up to meet your eyes again as tears formed her eyes.
