Mr John loves Mrs John, Mrs John loves Mr John, but if there's one thing they don't love, it's their son Chester. They were excited to see what having a child would be like, but boy he was such a failure, an unfortunately non-refundable one too. Mrs John originally wanted a daughter, but she didn't mind too much when a boy came out. She was even almost fond of him when he was little, but when he grew up a bit she started to notice how introverted and weird he was. Mr John despised how timid and shy he was, and (in his mind) he tried everything he could to try and 'toughen him up' and 'straighten him out'. For some reason, which he just couldn't pick out, that made Chester worse, so after deciding he was a lost cause they shipped him off to the military. They've barely contacted him since.

Today, on a Sunday evening after getting home from church and watching TV in bed, they are going to receive a phone call.
