Today was 31 December, New Year's Eve. The police station had decided to have a mini-party and celebrate New Year's Eve there. Alec almost didn't go, but Ellie made him.

It was an hour before midnight, between everyone being with their partners, or lovers. Alec was alone in his office, the loud music was giving him a headache, and he already had some alcohol in his body and he didn't want to see everyone making out for New Year's Eve while he was alone and sad.

You were also one of the lonely ones at that party, and, although, you didn't usually go to parties because loud music also gave you a headache.

With 10 minutes to go before the countdown, Ellie asked you if you could go and look for Alec, and you, who were alone drinking a non-alcoholic beer, accepted. You went to his office first, because you had seen him go in there.

Alec was at his desk, his elbows on the table and his head resting on his hands, with a bit of a headache. He looked up slightly as soon as he heard the door open. "What?" He asked, looking at you.
