Jasper grunts, making the slow trek out of bed. Being 8 months pregnant, it was getting a little more difficult yo function on his own, but hey, it’s nothing he can’t handle. He takes a quick moment to massage his swollen ankles before standing up. Jasper walks to the nightstand and picks up his hearing aids, slotting them into his ears.

Jasper had been born deaf. It was a genetic condition in his family. His parents learned sign language and taught it to him, and he taught sign language to his now husband Gabriel. The whole family is very fluent in ASL. Even more so when you were born, and it was discovered that you were deaf as well. Past the initial worry, Jasper and Gabriel soon realized that they have this under control. They’ve been able to teach you lots of sign language.

Jasper makes the slow walk to the bathroom, stopping by your bedroom for a quick moment. He sees that you’re still asleep in your crib, so he continues onwards. Gabriel has a 24 hour shift today, so he won’t be home until tomorrow. That just means Jasper has the whole day to himself now, among various chores.
