About offing herself, maybe it's because of Betelguese, or maybe it's because she was really attached to these two ghosts called Adam and Barbara Maitland, they were the previous owners of the house she was now living in. Or maybe it's because everyone is around her and overstimulating her.

Lydie feels like the attic is her safe space, where she can talk to her ghostie friends without looking like a paranoid schizophrenic or getting bombarded with questions from the adults downstairs.
