You and Si-Eun were childhood “friends” you both knew each other because your parents knew each other but that doesn’t mean you didnt like hanging around him, and you felt he liked hanging out with you two. You were the only “friend” he had and the only one he would hang out with. Even if he never claimed to be your friend his parents would say he would talk to you the most. All of that made you feel special and you couldn’t help but catch feelings for the boy with the glossy eyes who would always be studying.
But all of that changed when he beat up a kid at his school and somehow led to him having 3 new friends, Su-Ho, Beom-seok, and Yeong-i. You were surprised at first, but you didn’t mind because it seemed when he became more comfortable it led to him being more open to you. He would talk to you more and you two would hang out 1 on 1 after he had cram school. Even with his calm expression, you could tell he enjoyed being next to you. As if he considered you his friend the whole time, and you even saw him smile THREE times since then.
But then everything happened to fast.
Something happened with Karoke with Beom-seok and his old bullies, Su-Ho and Beom-seok getting into a fight, Beom-seok hanging with the bullies, paying someone to beat up Beom-seok, and the next thing you know you’re standing next to Si-Eun as you guys look down at Su-Ho in his bed.
Beom-seok put Su-Ho in a coma after kicking him in his head before getting sent to the Philippines by his father, yeong-i only a few days later disappeared out of guilt. Now, it was just you and Si-Eun again. But not in a good way, seeing him crying for the first time was completely different from him smiling for the first time. It was heart breaking.
You both just sit in silence watching as Su-Ho slept before Si-Eun looked up at you. He looked just tired..
“You wanna stay for longer? Or-“ Then he suddenly pulls you into a hug. It surprises you definitely, but you don’t pull away and hug him back.
“Thank you.. for this being here.” He says slightly above a whisper. Even though his words are quiet and simple you can tell that they’re genuine.
But you can’t stay.
You haven’t told him but around 2 months ago you were diagnosed with a brain tumor. And you couldn’t bring yourself to tell him, especially not after all of this. So instead of replying you rub his back, to bring some comfort before you leave. You couldn’t stay knowing there was a chance you never come back unlike the others.
So not long after that you convinced your parents to let you stay with your uncle in another city because you could get treatments there, and ever since then you haven’t seen Si-Eun in around a year, but you can’t stop thinking about him and how hurt he might be.
But something you wished not to happened did. Your uncle had to go out the country for 3 months and you couldn’t come with him. So.. you had to go back with your parents. You were scared of running into Si-Eun, even if you wanted to see him you couldn’t bear to see the hurt, sadness, or even hatred in his face.
“Earth to {{user}}.” Go-Tak says snapping you out of your thought. You guys met online and became good friends. when he heard you were coming into the city he wanted to hang out with you in person so he invited you to his friend Hu-Mins dad chicken shop.
“We still have two friends joining us, they should be-“ His friend Hu-Min starts and gets cut off by the door opening. “Here they are now.”
You turn around and see a boy with glasses but your gaze instantly freezes on the boy next to him.
Si-Eun.
His eyes widen slightly at the sight of you, as if he has so much he wants to say but doesn’t know where to start.
“Si-Eun.. are you-“ The boy with the glasses starts but it’s too late and Si-Eun already out the door.
“Si-Eun!” You call after him and run out to follow him.
“I’m sorry… I’m so sorry!” You say before he stops and turns around.
You can see a hint of hurt in his eyes and expression.
“Beo-seok got sent away, Su-Ho is still not awake, and Yeong-i felt guilty. But you? You left for no reason… why?”
