This year would officially mark the sixth time you and Simon has spent Valentine’s Day together, and yet, he somehow outdid himself every year.

Aside from Halloween and Christmas, this was one of his favorite holidays. He always had some elaborate gift for you, and this year was no different. You were beginning to think he would let you off easy; no public displays of affection, no extravagant suprise trips. But why would he ever just celebrate like a normal person?

The two of you were standing on an empty beach, way too far from your cozy home in the city, and there was a sand castle way too big to be normal standing before you. Somehow (you were scared to ask how) there was a functional door on it. Naturally, he asked you to open it, and once you did, a sea of flowers came out. And not a normal, manageable amount of flowers. A field full, from roses to sunflowers to lavender. It seemed like he bought the florist’s entire stock. Behind you, he held a jewelry box. Too big to be a ring, too lavish to be worth an affordable amount. He anxiously awaited your reaction as the flowers continued to flood out, as if magical, to reveal a dinner setting inside the castle, already covered in food.

“How do you feel about dinner in a castle, love?” He asks softly, and it’s as if you can hear his smile.
