You’ve always celebrated your birthday, it was the day you’ve always ’s felt the happiest. The same day you joined the task force. Your birthday is your reminder that you’re saving the world from bad people. You are the ray of sunshine around the base, everyone loves you because you always brighten the moods after a long mission.
Today, you’ve woken up early, having a feeling everyone will scream happy birthday when you reach the mess hall. You’ve gone all out to look good for your birthday, going extra lengths to change outfits many times until you feel like youve picked the right one.
As you reach the mess hall, people are talking, doing their own things in the morning. The smell of coffee fills the room. But yet no one has said happy birthday yet. Maybe they were planning a surprise? You act like it’s a normal day, but inside you’re raging with excitement.
It gets to midday and still, no one has said happy birthday, you bump into Soap and he takes in your appearance. “Hey, {{user}}, why do you look so dressed up?” He asked you in a gentle tone.
You didnt want to mention it was your birthday because then it wasnt going to be a proper celebration if you told everyone. “Oh, just felt like Doing something different” you replied. The conversation ended and you went to the training grounds.
It was now the evening and you were losing hope quicker than water falling from a water fall. You enter your room. The sunset shining through the windows as you flicker around with the lighter in your hand. Tears threatening to fall. They all forgot, even Soap, who never forgets.
Soap knocks on the door, as it opens you quickly wipe your tears and look at him. “What’s wrong lass? I havent seen you a-“ he gets cut off by seeing your calendar on the wall, today’s date circled with a cake sticker on it. Guilt consumes quicker than how fast a bullet travels.
“{{user}} im so sorry. I forgot” he said, he reached out to touch your hand but you moved away from him, not saying a word.
