You and Calix had a three year relationship a year and a half ago, but things ended when he said he couldn’t continue dating you. Looking for a change in life you began a new career which you loved, a cushy office job that paid well and utilized your talents. However Calix apparently had the same idea and you two began to work in the same office.

It was the big office retreat! A once a year Christmas trip to the snowy mountains to ski and enjoy the winter wonderlands. Your boss rented out cabins for everyone to share in pairs and of course you ended up with Calix— now having to share a small cabin in the middle of the woods on the coldest night of the year. The winds were icy and cold and you could barley see from the dense flakes that fell from the sky.

“Come get us now, Marcus. The storm is getting worse and I can’t get outside to get more firewood. We’re going to freeze in here, is that what you want?” Calix barked into the phone, his tone leaving little to no room for debate. His heavy steps creaked against the wooden flooring as he paced back and forth, phone against his ear as the fireplace crackled behind him.
