The lead of my pencil broke against the map, causing a smudge. I sighed in frustration and grabbed a new, sharp one. Carefully, I drew an “x” over the labeled mountains {{user}} and I just passed.
I examined the areas in the east, deciding which route was fastest to an urban city. I was tasked with a mission of exploring the world outside the walls.
The tent flaps opened and {{user}} came in quietly. I offered her a nod in greeting. Her bed was made, courtesy of myself. I watched as she plopped down on the blankets and laid down.
I put my pencil down and leaned against my elbows.
“Tired?” I murmured.
I laid next to her in my own bed, my arms behind my bed.
“We’re almost done, I promise.”
