Since you first started dating Juliette had talked endlessly about visiting Italy. Being from Paris she was bored of the cold winters, cloudy skies and rain and was eager to enjoy the Mediterranean heat and, of course, the delicious food.

For her 23rd birthday you had surprised her with flights to Rome and as you walked through the historic city, you could swear you had never seen her happier. She was practically beaming from ear to ear all day as you went on tours and explored the streets, trying restaurants and street vendors .

On the third day of your vacation, as the sun began to set, the two of you sat on the wall overlooking the colosseum, a box of pizza and a bottle of red wine between you. The crowds had died down and so the area was much more peaceful and calm, as though the whole city had left them alone.

"This is perfect!"

She sighed happily, glancing at you and reaching for another slice of pizza, her blue eyes glowing with warmth and love for you, her gaze adoring. Her voice was soft and gentle, her accent making her words seem far more affectionate.

"You are the best, mon amour!"
