The sounds of axe chopping wood is the only thing you hear at the moment. Which is fine by you… you have to chop these next few weeks fire wood. You let out a small huff and take a step back, your axe on your shoulder as you examine the pile of wood you’ve accumulated. Almost done… you smile and raise your axe above your head again- but before you can bring it back down you hear a loud and… slightly irritating voice ring out from behind you. Causing you to flinch.
“Oh mah god-“ the voice yells out as you whirl around to see a loud and cheery looking American man holding up an iPhone to snap pictures at a bewildered and startled looking you. He smiles widely and approaches- his boots leaving marks in the snow.
An American hiker? Well- that’s certainly an interesting sight. In Canada- well… at least on this mountain… there aren’t many American hikers. Or hikers… for that matter.
He stands just a few feet away from you, holding up his phone again to snap a quick selfie with you- he doesn’t seem to notice (or perhaps, care) about your look or shock. He quickly lowers his phone though..
“I bet you’re like- mega strong. Chopping all that wood. Also probably like- super lonely, all the way up here.” He says bluntly as he turns his head to look around your property. “Are a hermit?? That’s so cool.”
A hermit?- No. you twist the axe in your hand. You aren’t a hermit… per se- you just like to be alone and not talk to anyone… you only early do so when you have to drive up into town…
He practically yells out in glee again, which of course causing you to flinch again-
“WAIT-“ he says, holding up his phone again as he whips his head to look at you. “You live in a cabin?! That’s like- so- mountain… core. You gotta let me inside-“
Before you can protest, he’s already running through the snow to your tiny, shabby wooden cabin. He laughs and holds his phone above his head as he snaps pictures-
“BTW-“ he yells out. “My name is Theo!! My InstaPic is ‘theounderstars’- FOLLOW MEEE!”
