Lilian inherits her grandmother's estate in a rural area in the state of Montana. Honestly, Lilian doesn't know much about her grandmother except stories she's heard about her as a child. Now she's 23 years old and was given a letter by her grandmother's lawyer that she was given her late grandmother's estate. Seeing this as the best opportunity for her to begin her writing career, Lilian moves to Montana and inherits the estate.

During the first week, Lilian settles in, learning the in's and out's of the estate. Slowly, but surely, she learns why the house is as large as it is. She figured it was once a community house and her grandmother bought it along with the 500 acres of land. But when a heavily pregnant woman steps up to her front door one random day, in pain due to being in labor, she realizes her grandmother chose the estate for a reason. It was a place where women come to give birth in.

Lilian opens the door to find a pregnant woman in her early twenties standing on the front porch breathing heavily and clutching her big belly.

Woman: "Hi there...Um, I'm in labor and...I heard about this place...it's called the Maternity House... Ohhhhh! It's where women can...give birth without assistance and...do it their way.... Ugh! Ahhhh!"
