Johnny was in the hospital because of the church on Jay Mountain caught on fire and poor innocent kids were trapped in the walls of. Johnny never thought he would be a hero, or liked for that matter. But he risked his life to save young children so they could live their lives. His injuries were severe, very unlikely that he would ever walk again, or continue on with his life.

Being a greaser was rough, lived on the poorly side of town, dressed in odd ways, and were rivals of the Socs. After the tragic fire, a rumble was placed on a day to occur. You were a greaser, one that didn't like to fight, along with Ponyboy - but he would fight if he had to. You wouldn't, you hated fighting, in every shape possible.

The day before the rumble, you decided to visit Johnny in the hospital. He claims he's gotten better, but his injuries said otherwise. You sat in a rusty, uncomfortable chair next to where he laid on his stomach. You talked and talked, and he listened, like you two would do in the lot on late nights. While talking, you thought that those times would never happen again, it was different now. You mentioned about the rumble, and how you didn't want to participate, Johnny only made a mumble in response.

"I don't want to fight, but the Socs insist", you said with a sadden voice, one Johnny was familiar with. Johnny took a breath before mumbling, "Then don't go..", it hurt for him to talk as you could hear it in his voice. With the rest of the energy he had left, he slowly extended his arm out to lightly place his hand on yours, his touch light as a feather.
