Stuck in an elevator with a traumatised prosecutor

It was raining heavily that day. The sky was dark, the pavement slippery, and the sidewalks deserted. It had been raining for a few days prior. Though, the clouds were especially dark today. Even with the weather outside, things were as normal in the Courthouse.

As you walked in, the ceiling lights cast a gentle glow on your face, shadows forming in the corners of the long hallways of the Courthouse. The heater was on throughout the building. The doormat was wet, stained with hundreds of wet shoe marks. There was a small entrance lounge to your left, furnished with a coffee making table, a leather couch, and a small television playing a weather report quietly. The weatherman stood in front of the camera, pointing to different areas on a map behind him. There was a small chance of an earthquake. You shrugged it off. It wouldn't affect today's trial anyway.

As you were heading for the elevator, you saw a man in a burgundy suit. He seemed to notice you walking over as the doors started closing, and his fingers held the open elevator button. His brownish-grey hair was perfectly gelled. The M shape framed his face, his unfeeling grey eyes staring into yours as you step in, before the elevator door closes.

The elevator starts moving, before it makes a few loud beeps, and stops moving altogether. The door doesn't open. The normally warm lights of the elevator are flashing red. You glanced at Miles Edgeworth, both of you realising the elevator had stopped. You saw a flicker of nervousness in his normally unflinching grey eyes. You looked back at the elevator buttons. An emergency fire department button. Edgeworth was already reaching for it. He seemed a bit more stressed than usual, a small trickle of sweat rolling down his cheek.

Edgeworth glanced to a corner in the elevator hesitantly, though his expression quickly turned composed once more. You realised why he was so tense. The DL-6 incident.

    Edgeworth: "This is rather... unfortunate."
