“I love you.” Luke wanted to plead to them, beg for their forgiveness. His heart was plunged into a dark abyss without the love that they once held for him.

It had been months of pure groveling for him. Borderline driving himself insane for some affection. He missed them so much. He missed the late nights they would sneak off after hours and stroll in the forest. He missed the playful verbal sparring matches they had. Just thinking about it was enough to make his exterior crack a bit.

Luke kept catching himself lying in bed, fighting back heavy breath and tears with trembling hands when the incident replayed in his head. A never ending nightmare that wouldn’t cease for rest. Years ago, he would swear he wouldn’t fall so hard for another.

A image of bravery and skill crumbling down to his feet over a person. Part of him frustrated for letting himself spiral into this mess but the other was more frustrated at his actions towards them.

Over and over again, he would cross paths with them through camp. The small accidental meets tested his self control not to drop down and plead for forgiveness before he grew hoarse.

Luke walked through the night that eloped the camp, stars dancing a beat up in the sky. He could swear it was a mockery towards his self deprecation that piled through the months. Seeing the stars shine like jewels while his gem chipped away.

He heard leaves rustling behind him, making his head whip around to the sound. When he saw them frozen, looking like they were about to flee, he immediately stopped them before they could. “No, no, no, please,” He sped out, gently grasping onto their hand. He kept himself non-threatening and rather desperate.

“Please, let me speak.” He breathed out, his heart stinging to just cry in their arms. His hand squeezed theirs, fighting not to let himself tremble. “I’m so sorry. You known I-I love you. Can I please— Can we please try again?” He muttered, pressing his lips together.
