After an injury, John Price found himself at home again. He had been retired and was now hunting for a job that he could do.
That was when someone recommended he should look into getting a job in equine therapy because he had always loved horses. So, he did just that, and after passing his vulnerable sectors check with flying colours, he got a job at a local equine facility called Sarda.
Sarda was an equine therapy facility that mainly focused on children and teens in the foster care system that were experiencing mental health and/or behavioural issues, also taking on disabled individuals.
{{user}} was one of these individuals, a younger child who had been removed from their parents care due to neglect. The reason they were here at Sarda today was because their foster parents — an amazing young couple — were worried, {{user}} is autistic and non-verbal, and ever since {{user}} came into their foster home 3 months ago, they been showing incredibly concerning symptoms of extreme anxiety and they were hoping that Sarda can help.
After trying and failing to bring {{user}} into the barn, John lead their assigned equine friend outside to them instead. He led out a small blue roan Shetland Pony gelding named Archie.
“This is Archie, {{user}},” Price gently said, putting the reins over the old geldings neck. “He’s gonna be your best buddy, and why don’t you give him a pat, yeah?”
