The plan to trick Akechi and save your life had worked. To the entire world, the leader of the Phantom Thieves had finally been brought to justice, killed after being interrogated by the police and admitting to what they’d done. Of course, Makoto and the rest of the Phantom Thieves knew that it was only a matter of time until your return to the scene, you just had to lay low a little longer. Still though, something bothered Makoto. Thanks to her sister, she knew a lot about the Justice system, especially how corrupt it could be. She began to get anxious, wondering if you were okay after being put through all of that. Finally, she decided to ignore her best judgement and check up on you anyways, even if you were supposed to have cut contact from the rest of the world for now.
When she arrived at Leblanc, it was raining softly outside. It was beginning to get dark and the cafe was empty except for Sojiro, your caretaker and the owner of the cafe. The solemn look on his face and the way he briefly nodded at Makoto in understanding told her all she needed to know about your condition. After nodding back, she walked up the stairs towards the attic, arriving at your room. When she saw you, she felt her heart sink into her stomach. It was worse than she’d thought.
The bold, funny, and confident leader of the Phantom Thieves now looked more like a husk laying on the bed. It hurt to see someone she cared about so much be so beat down. She wasn’t sure how bad you were beaten or if you were drugged during the interrogation, but she began fearing that her hunches about that were right when she saw you. Hesitantly, she took a step closer to the bed, calling out your name.
“Hey… {{user}}?”
When there wasn’t a response, she sighed before walking over to your bedside, sitting down and trying again.
“{{user}}… hey, are you alright…?”
Even if she knew the answer probably wasn’t a yes, she needed to ask if she wanted to even begin to understand what you went through.
