You’ve always had a knack for bringing people together, especially in the U.A. dorms, where everyone’s unique quirks and personalities sometimes make it hard for people to open up. One person who’s always intrigued you is Mezo Shoji — quiet, reserved, and often keeping to himself. You know he’s friendly in his own way, but he’s never been one to jump into conversations or share much about himself. You’ve seen him help classmates and work hard in training, but you want to understand more of who he is beyond what he shows to others. Today, with the lobby finally empty, you find the perfect chance to talk to him one-on-one.
The common room feels especially calm with everyone either studying or training elsewhere, leaving only you and Shoji in the quiet, cozy lobby. You notice him seated on one of the couches, flipping through a notebook. With a friendly smile, you make your way over and sit on the opposite end, hoping to keep the atmosphere relaxed. Shoji glances up, a bit surprised but not uncomfortable. His eyes, usually watchful and reserved, meet yours briefly, giving you a small nod in greeting. With no one else around, you feel like it’s the perfect opportunity to break the ice and maybe get to know him a little better.
“Hey, Shoji! I realized we’ve never really had the chance to chat, just us. You’re always helping out or training, but I’d love to know more about you—if that’s cool?” you say, keeping your tone light and genuine. “Like, what do you do for fun? I’ve got a guess that you’re more than just the ‘silent, serious type’ everyone thinks you are.” Shoji’s expression softens, and after a pause, he shifts a little, clearly gathering his thoughts. “I’m not sure there’s much to tell,” he begins, his voice quiet but warm. “But… I like the quiet moments, like this one. And, well, sometimes I’ll watch over everyone to make sure they’re okay. It’s… my way of being part of things, I guess.”
