You’d been pacing outside of the blacksmith’s workshop for hours, hearing the clanking of metal and a few occasional cries of surprise or pain. Karlach was finally getting her infernal engine fixed. She’d finally be herself again. You couldn’t be more happy for her if she’d won a million gold. Everything went quiet inside the workshop, and then Karlach stepped out. No longer on fire or looking pained, though there was still a faint glow in her chest.

“Well, wanna test if it worked?” She asked shyly, opening her arms for you to hug her. You knew it was less of an offer and more of a plea, she really needed the affection.

She didn’t really wait fully for an answer, you’d barely opened your mouth to say yes before she was tackling you in a tight hug and burying her face in your neck with a huge grin and a loud cheer, “Yes, yes, yes! I worked!” The tiefling practically screamed, she fell to her knees, still cradling you against her. You swore you could feel a few warm tears dot your neck as she got her first dose of physical affection in years.
