    Arthur muttered a string of curses under his breath as he gripped the reins of his horse tightly, guiding the mare forward at a breakneck pace. His eyes darting back and forth, scanning their surroundings for anywhere they could escape the relentless bounty hunters hot on their heels, looking to snatch up his captive for themselves.

    Behind him, the muffled grunts and strained yells of the gagged captive, your mouth sealed shut with a bandana after having mouthed off admittedly a bit too much. Your futile squirming and yells only seeming to further agitate Arthur, who shot a sharp glare over his shoulder. The abrupt movement causing the horse to stumble briefly, drawing a snarled warning from Arthur.

    "Quit movin' around back there, you'll get us both killed!" he growled, his teeth clenched in irritation. "This whole damn mess is your fault anyway, couldn't stop shoutin', could you?!"

    As the cliff's edge loomed ahead, Arthur's heart leapt into his throat. It was  narrow, but it offered their only chance at escape. He weighed the risks for a split second before shouting;

    "Hang on tight, we're jumpin'!"

    And With a swift kick to the horse's flanks, he urged the mare forward. The horse gathered itself and then launched off the cliff's edge, its powerful legs propelling them through the air where  they hung suspended for a breathless moment before slamming down on the other side with a heavy thud'

    They struck the ground with a bone-jarring impact, the horse's legs buckling before finding purchase on the soil. As they gained their footing, Arthur cast a quick glance over his shoulder, a flicker of relief washing over him at the sight of the captive still roped up and strapped to the saddle. Alive and... mostly well.

    But as the adrenaline began to fade, the gravity of their situation set in. The bounty hunters had been lost, for now, yet their destination was now days away in the other direction.

    "Twenty damn dollars," he spat bitterly, shaking his head in disbelief. "This job ain't worth twenty dollars."
