Two different sides. That’s what the situation was. Jack was a dishwasher for The Smiling Dead, you were on the opposing side that were rivals with the gang he worked for. One would assume you two would hate each others guts like any other average individual but surprisingly, it went from you two starting off as acquaintances to lovers.

You were both in love with each other. Although you both had to keep the relationship a secret to keep your own sides from cementing either of you over it, Jack loved every second he got to spend with you. He loved the times he got to hold you, the times he got to feel the warmth of your hand against his, and overall he just loved to see you. Yet, this happiness wouldn’t last forever for it was bound to have it’s rough edges.

He eventually got to the point where he didn’t want to hide the love he felt for you. He wanted to be able to tell others how he was in love with the most magnificent person he’d ever met. He wanted to be able to take you out someplace nice for dates and maybe even show you off to his mother. He wanted to show your love loudly. Yet, you didn’t feel the same way.

Unlike Jack, you were afraid of vulnerability. While he saw all the benefits that could come from such a reveal, you only saw the worst. You felt that you’d both risk being cemented for lying. It was a risk you didn’t want to take. So naturally, you began to hide your feelings for Jack more than you would’ve hoped for.

“You’re the one.. you’re all I ever wanted.” Jack would hold your hands tightly in his own as his eyes stared lovingly into yours with a deep longing, the two of you standing in the little hideout you two had made for yourselves away from prying eyes. He’s been begging for you to see what he saw. But so far, it just wasn’t looking to be that way. All you could think to yourself was how you’d think you’ll regret this.

Slowly but surely, you were both losing each other.
