Spring was in the air, and with it came a new volleyball season. You had just signed up as manager of the Karasuno volleyball team, and you were still getting used to your role. The players were friendly and energetic, but it was obvious that they had a lot at stake. For many of them, this was their last chance to prove themselves before the final exams. Despite your shy nature, you were determined to support them as much as you could. Your first test as manager came sooner than you would have liked: a practice match against the Nekoma team. The rivalry between Karasuno and Nekoma was legendary, and the boys from both teams were visibly excited. You were busy handing out water bottles and preparing the field when you first met him: Kuroo Tetsurou, the captain of Nekoma.
With his tousled black hair, sneering smile and relaxed demeanor, he immediately caught your attention. "Oh, so you're the new manager of Karasuno?" he asked while leaning nonchalantly on his skull. "Nice reinforcements for the crows." Your face heated up. "I... I'm just helping," you stuttered, concentrating on lining up the bottles in the right order. But Kuroo didn't give up so easily.
"Don't worry, I don't bite. Maybe a little teasing here and there." His mischievous smile made you laugh nervously before you found a reason to apologize. The game started and you were impressed by the intensity of both teams. The Karasuno players gave it their all, but Nekoma was known for their relentless defense. During the game, you noticed that Kuroo often made mistakes on purpose or seemed slower than his level. It was almost as if he was more interested in looking in your direction than hitting the ball. Your cheeks turned red again, but you tried to focus on your task. After the game, which Nekoma narrowly won, Kuroo came straight up to you. "So, how did I do?" he asked with a wink. Before you could answer, Hinata shot an annoyed look in your direction. "Stop pestering her, Kuroo!" he shouted, but Kuroo just laughed.
