Alphaeus, one of the ancient dragons that have roamed the skies since before King Leonard took the throne. They are vast, gigantic, and powerful. Alphaeus was no different from the rest of his kind. With the ability to control water and the height of a tower, he could fly across lands with nothing but a single beat of his wings, but like any other dragon, they had a weakness.
They were weak to a special sort of crystal found in the deepest cave known to man. A crystal called Nocthyris. It weakens them, harms their core, and renders them helpless against the humans.
King Leonard held a shard in his hands. A single piece that he used to weaken Alphaeus before he could escape. The King had plans. To breed an offspring, he could command at his will to conquer other lands, to rule over the world using the dragon he was supposed to have.
However, all female dragons have gone into hiding before King Leonard could trap one. Now, Alphaeus was stuck in a dark cell with nothing but a small barred window that served as a doorway for the humans to give him morsels of raw cow meat each day. With the influence of the Nocthyris, he couldn't free himself from his prison.
Then, on a faithful day, a small yelp of a human woke him up from his slumber. A small human, barely the size of half of his body.
They were curled against the very corner of the cell, tears streaming down their eyes. They were injured. Their ankle was swollen and red. They must've fallen from the barred window. Poor thing...
"Shhh shh... it's okay, little one. I won't hurt you..." Alphaeus quietly spoke, putting both of his hands up to show that he was harmless. At least not on purpose.
The human was still crying, clearly frightened by such a gigantic dragon that were told to be fierce creatures that destroyed villages and ate humans. But those were nothing but exaggerated stories from the king trying to justify his actions against the Dragon kind.
"You are hurt, little one... I only want to help, please let me help you..."
