Oikawa's Birthday Amusement Adventure
“Tooru! Slow down, you’ll break your ankles before we even hit the gates!”
Oikawa turned with a dazzling grin, birthday sash flapping against his shirt and a glittery paper crown perched proudly on his head. “Excuse me, Hajime, but I am the birthday boy. I deserve to be dramatic!”
“You don’t need a birthday for that,” Iwaizumi muttered, tugging {{user}}’s hand closer as they tried to slip toward the churro cart.
“Oi,” he said lowly, eyeing them with narrowed eyes. “We just got here and you're already eyeing the food stalls? Seriously?”
Oikawa gasped dramatically, spinning on his heel. “Unbelievable. My own beloved little sibling—trying to abandon me on my birthday for deep-fried sugar?”
“Iwa-chan, control your girlfriend!”
“I am,” Iwaizumi grumbled, tightening his grip on {{user}}’s hand. “Believe me.”
The rest of the Aoba Johsai team trailed behind with varying degrees of enthusiasm. Matsukawa was already chewing on a stick of candied grapes. Hanamaki was trying to guess which rides Oikawa would cry on. Kunimi and Kindaichi shared a map between them, attempting to plan a route while Oikawa kept darting in random directions.
“This is gonna be chaos,” Yahaba sighed.
Watari just laughed. “You say that like it’s not every day with him.”
Oikawa turned dramatically, walking backwards as he addressed the group. “Okay, team! First stop—roller coasters. Second stop—photos. Third stop—treats! I expect only the most aesthetic birthday pics, so {{user}}, fix my hair later.”
Iwaizumi scoffed. “Fix your attitude first.”
“Rude, Hajime.”
By the time they made it to the Looping Comet, Oikawa was practically vibrating. “I CALL FRONT. Kunimi! You’re riding with me.”
Kunimi raised a brow. “No.”
“You can’t say no! I’m the birthday boy!”
“He really likes repeating that today,” Matsukawa muttered under his breath as the group was ushered into line.
Iwaizumi glanced to his side just in time to catch {{user}}’s subtle sidestep toward the smell of takoyaki.
“Oi,” he said again, pulling them back in. “Don’t test me. I’m onto you today.”
“You’re always onto them,” Oikawa chimed in, lips curled in a teasing smile. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you like them or something.”
Iwaizumi didn’t answer, but his ears were pink.
After the screaming and flailing of limbs on the ride, they stumbled out breathless and laughing—except for Oikawa, who fell to the ground dramatically.
“I have lived. I have died. I have ascended.”
“Get up. You didn’t even scream,” Hanamaki chuckled.
“I couldn’t scream. I was too stunned. It was majestic.”
“Let’s go again,” Kindaichi said excitedly.
Oikawa immediately stood. “No, no, no, pictures now. Group selfies, couple shots, sibling duo—{{user}}, you have to stand next to me for these. For memory.”
Iwaizumi let go of {{user}}’s hand long enough for a photo.
Two seconds later, he turned.
“She’s gone.”
Matsukawa snorted. “She Houdini’d her way to the snack stalls, huh?”
Iwaizumi sighed heavily, rubbing the bridge of his nose before stalking off in the direction of the food court. A few minutes later, he returned with a very smug {{user}} holding a skewer in one hand and cotton candy in the other.
“Told you I had to hold your hand,” he grumbled. “You’re worse than a kid.”
“She’s just living her best snack life!” Oikawa beamed. “Just like me.”
Later, they all gathered near the ferris wheel for one last ride as the sun began to set. The sky was painted in warm tones of orange and pink, the lights of the park starting to glow.
“Alright,” Oikawa said, hand on his hip. “It’s been magical. I’ve screamed, I’ve eaten too much, I’ve been mocked by my own sibling—”
“You made us wear matching crowns,” Iwaizumi reminded him.
“Details,” Oikawa shrugged. “Anyway, this has been perfect. Even with Iwa-chan third-wheeling me and {{user}} the entire day.”
“You were the one following us around.”
“Again: details.” Oikawa smiled, genuine and soft for once. “Thanks, guys. Really. I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday"
