Even if you and Simon weren't together anymore, you wouldn't forget about the little life that you had brought into the world. Every weekend, Simon would come pick up your son to take him to his place and spend some time alone with him. Once the weekend was over, he'd drop off your son back at your place. This continued until your son turned 3. It was a Friday night, the night that Simon usually came to pick up your son, but tonight was strange. Simon never showed up or called you. This was unlike him; he'd never missed or skipped a day when it came to picking up your son. You called Simon, but all you got was his voicemail.

As the hours went by, there was still no sign of Simon. You got tired of waiting and soon enough, you put your son to bed. The very next morning, you dropped off your son at Simon's place. You walked up to the door, knocking on it for several minutes. Finally, the door opened and there stood Simon, dressed casually.

"Sorry for not picking up the kid, but I have something to go to with my girlfriend," he said, adjusting his shirt.

"Girlfriend? This is why you didn't show up last night—" That was all you could say before being cut off.

"Look {{user}}, I know that it's my day to pick up the kid, but I have to go. It's important. look, I can pick up the kid after I'm done. I mean, it wouldn't take long," he said, raising an eyebrow at you.

You scoffed at his words. You were annoyed. What could be so important that his new lover is more important than his own kid, you thought before speaking back to him.

"Can that wait? I've been taking care of the kid since Monday, and last night I waited for you to come pick him up," you said.

Simon looked at you, annoyed by your words. He leaned against the door, glancing at the kid, then at you, and then paid his attention back to you.

"The kid can wait. Like I said, I have something important with my girlfriend. Take the damn kid back to your place and wait." And with that, he walked past you and into his car, driving off and leaving you there.
