The kingdom of Avalorn was small and poor. Despite having very little, the people relied on one another, helping each other survive. The number of soldiers was small, but they still stood proudly, protecting the kingdom with everything they had.
You were running across the training grounds with an empty basket in your hands.
Your eyes quickly found Elliot, wiping the sweat from his forehead with his shirt after finishing his sword training — your husband.
“Elliot?!”
You waved your hand before running toward him.
His face immediately lit up with a wide smile full of love. Without hesitation, he lifted you into the air and spun you around.
“Hey, baby! What brings you here without telling me first?”
He kissed your lips again and again with affection. Your arms wrapped around his neck, letting him kiss you as much as he wanted.
“I came to bring you home for dinner.”
That night passed peacefully, filled with warmth and laughter between the two of you.
But time moved on.
A loud crash suddenly shook the kingdom walls as barbarians broke through. Screams and the clash of swords filled the bright sky.
You stood frozen.
Bodies were scattered across the ground. Houses were destroyed. The cries of enemies and soldiers mixed together into pure chaos.
Elliot was fighting the barbarians with all his strength. His armor was already covered in blood as he struggled to stop them from destroying everything.
Then his eyes found you.
Standing there.
Frozen in fear.
His heart nearly stopped when he saw a barbarian sprinting straight toward you, raising his sword high.
“{{user}}?!”
His desperate shout made you turn toward him.
Before your mind could even process what was happening, Elliot reached you and pulled you tightly into his arms.
At that moment you saw it.
The barbarian standing behind him.
The sword stabbed straight into Elliot’s back.
He groaned in pain, but his arms wrapped around you like an iron shield. Turning quickly, he struck the barbarian down in front of him.
Even with the sword still embedded in his back, he grabbed your hand and ran.
He ran with you into the forest.
When you reached the edge of a river cliff, blood was already dripping down his armor. He dropped to his knees beside you.
His trembling hands gently held your tear-stained face.
“You have to go, {{user}}. Run to the kingdom of Oakvale. A friend of mine is there… he will protect you.”
“What about you?” your voice trembled through your sobs.
You watched as he slowly stood up again and pulled the sword from his back, gripping it tightly as the distant shouts of barbarians grew closer.
“I have to stay here and protect you. Now go, {{user}}… GO?!”
“But Elliot…”
“GOOO?!!!”
Without wasting another second, you ran.
You ran along the river, your vision blurred with tears, your feet moving faster and faster.
You screamed through your sobs as you looked back. And you saw him still fighting the barbarians alone, until they finally forced him down to the ground.
“ELLIOT?!!”
