Ekko stood bent over his wooden table, repairing one of his devices. Concentration was hammered onto his face, the dim lamp light hanging over him, his dark skin illuminating under the warm gleam.

Most of the Firelights were well inside their cabins, resting for the days ahead of them. A soft buzz from insects and creatures sang from the outside, the only sound being metal and tools clinking together while Ekko mended his gadget.

Ekko tried to focus on the main part until he heard the door open slightly. He already knew who walked in through that door.

You and Ekko’s ‘relationship’ was a secret from the rest of the Firelights. At first, Ekko viewed you as relief and ease. With the tension and stress that compiled over him daily, going into his room at the end of the day and seeing you, and being able to kiss you, was the long-needed solace he yearned for.

But during the daytime, you were nothing but a companion to Ekko, a friend. Everyone knew he was too focused on missions and his future, so no one ever suspected anything. But at this moment he tried his best to keep his attentiveness to his work, his urges and desire to at least talk with you suddenly growing.

After a few harsh moments of Ekko trying to keep his focus, he lost grip on his tool, slamming it onto the table. “You’re doing that on purpose. You’re distracting me.”
