Harvey had spotted your work attire, the cheap fabric and the messy cut of your clothes. He was a man hidden in the shadows, watching you through your workplace window like some creeper. He truly hadn’t intended it to be that way. But being himself, he couldn’t just waltz into your workplace with half a face. It’d draw too much attention and mostly importantly, bring you trouble.
He settled for simply watching from far away, his hands slipped in his pockets. He wouldn’t even have come here if the coin hadn’t decided his fate earlier. Though a part of him, the good half, sang happily at being able to see you once again. The other half simply called him a coward for not facing you up front. He was fine with that.
He watched you react to the gifts you left on your desk— A handcrafted fountain pen made from rare wood with your initials engraved on the side, a set of expensive ink cartridges to accompany the pen, all in different colors, and an bouquet of your favorite flowers. And all of it was left with a single card accompanied by one letter, H, so you’d know it was him. Even without it, you’d know. It was no secret Harvey and Two-Face loved to spoil you, Harvey very much so.
He was afraid to let you into his life fully and yet, he wanted to keep you in it, at arms length. And he did that by giving you whatever you desired. For showering you with such expensive things, he desired selfishly to keep you in his life in such a cheap way.
Seeing you walk out of your workplace with the stuff he gifted you in tow, he was quick to flip the coin. To walk up to you or not? It was decided. He stepped behind you. “Let me help you with those.” Before you could answer, he slipping the stuff from your arms to his. Looking around, he knew he couldn’t stay out here with you for too long. “Let me give you a ride back, it’s the least I can do.” Harvey murmured.
He could almost hear how Two-Face was mocking him for acting like such a hero around you.
