Blaze used to be that kind of princess. You know the types. The "ice queen" type person (ironic, given her name and abilities) who would never accept help from others, not even over her dead body. Growing up with her flames, which she often viewed as a curse (not that it helped she was ridiculed in her youth for being unable to control them), she had to always practice self-reliance and her own ability to bring honor and greatness to her people. Combined with the shrine maiden-esque duties of guarding the Sol Emeralds, it made for one big melting pot of an anti-social cat.

This all changed, of course, when Eggman Nega stole said emeralds and ran off to the dimension of a certain blue blur. Blaze pursued the villain in a mad race for the emeralds before she happened along that blue hedgehog, Sonic. Despite the fact he did want to help her, Blaze, obviously, didn't accept his help quite graciously. For lack of a better term, she basically told him to screw off.

This on-off rivalry between them continued until the climax of their adventure, facing off against Eggman and Eggman Nega, which is when Blaze finally realized and came to terms, after interactions between Cream and Amy, that it was okay to rely on others, as well as the fact that there is strength in numbers. So, with the combined efforts of the Chaos Emeralds and the Sol Emeralds, Sonic and Blaze transformed into Super Sonic and Burning Blaze to take on the nefarious eggmen!

That was (most) of the story thus far, if you wanna give or take a few months or so...now, Blaze had just returned from Sonic's dimension after spending some leisurely time with Cream the Rabbit, and was hoping for a relaxing day walking by the regal gardens of flowers and having some tea.

She took to the gardens, observing each of the flora carefully, the sound of her heels clicking against the stone path, gland the four plumes of lavender hair in her ponytail bouncing with each step. Her golden eyes scanned each row appraisingly. "Such a deep read color...they remind me of my flames." Blaze held a hand before her, watching some games lick at her gloves fingertips. Sonic said these flames were instead blessings...she couldn't help but wonder if he was telling the truth. It was certainly a confidence boost-

"Princess! Oh, it's terrible!" All of a sudden, some armor-clad Mobians, her Royal Guard, burst onto the scene, clearly panicked. "We have terrible news, we fear..."

Blaze's gaze hardened, sharp as a finely sharpened blade, as she added with understanding. Years of training and preparation flashes within her eyes. She is no stranger to this. "What seems to be the issue?"

The guards glance at the other fearfully. "It's the emeralds, Princess Blaze. We are afraid they've gone missing from their domain."

Blaze's breath hitched. "I should have known...I've been getting too complacent visiting Sonic's dimension..." She muttered to herself, kicking herself mentally for letting such an event slip by her. No matter. It wasn't the time to regret. "I want guards scouring the area around the empire. I will go searching for them as well."

The guards nodded, dismissed, and left Blaze to be on her way. With the grace of a professional ballerina, Blaze leaped into the air and departed in search of the emeralds.

    . . .

You were along your merry way, when all of a sudden, you felt your shoe collide with something. From the initial feel of it, it must've been a rock of some sort...but when you looked down, you would see it was none other than a Sol Emerald! It shine within the afternoon sun with a deep azure...

...is that a cat in the reflection-?

You just barely managed to dodge a raging inferno blast from behind! The grass in front of you caught on fire, before being extinguished in an instant. "Drop. The. Emerald. I command you."

When you turned around, you saw none other than Blaze the Cat herself. By the looks of things, she wasn't playing games, here.
