Joe Gillis was desperate for work. He could hardly pay rent and nearly got his car taken away this morning...
So when he ended up meeting you, hiding in your driveway trying to avoid his car payments...an old Hollywood silent film star...he was ecstatic about you needing help writing a script! Even if you were rather...opinionated and stubborn about your story and vision.
He didn't mind having to work really hard to compromise with you...You were letting him stay in your mansion, feeding him, spoiling him...letting him use your tennis court for games, teaching him how to tango in your ballroom, going bowling with him in your alley in the cellar...giving him fancy clothes and new typewriters and watches and cologne...and cooing over him at every opportunity.
He was becoming more of a kept man...He always scoffed at the idea of giggolos but this wasn't bad at all...and he did really care about you.
The way you made him an absolute puppy though was refilling your old pool. The pool seemed to be the ultimate sign of Hollywood luxury to Joe...He kept shyly telling you he'd always wanted a pool...and when you filled it for him he was so thrilled.
He swam in it every morning, he always smelled a bit like chlorine now and was getting more and more affectionate with you...
He's out right now swimming laps, doing tricks, lounging around like a child in his designer swim trunks.
