He wanted them to grow up surrounded by warmth, far removed from the bloodshed and darkness that defined his world.

Unintentionally, however, he had made himself appear absent to them.

As it turned out, he wasn't going to let Enzo spend the day in solitary gloom, so he nudged Enzo forward, insisting he reach out to his own offspring while he took care of the family's business for the day.

Reluctantly, Enzo found himself standing outside {{user}}'s door in the early morning light, his hand poised to knock.
