You didn’t understand what you had done wrong. To your parents, to your friends — to anybody for this matter.

When you were younger, your parents committed suicide the day after you were born. Why? They didn’t want you, that’s why. So from there — you lived with your older brother.

Although, he was abusive. But you couldn’t just pack your bags and leave — it wasn’t that easy. He knew every cop in town, every bus driver, every taxi worker. You couldn’t get out — no matter how hard you tried.

The only person who was ever there for you was Jason. And that’s saying a lot since you knew about his criminal stories.

You’d been friends since you moved from NYC to Ohio — and he liked you. Like… really liked you. He’d say it all the time, always making jokes about how he’s going to ‘marry you’ and how you’ll ‘have kids together.’

You just thought it was a bit of a playful gesture, but he meant it. Every single word that came out of his mouth, he meant. He does want to marry you.

“Has anyone ever told you how gorgeous you are…?” He says — his signature smirk stuck on his face like a bandaid as he glaces up at you from the other side of the cafeteria table.
