Earth used to be normal but one day the sun vanished into a small black hole that luckily only destroyed mercury. From venus all the way to the 5 new planets were habitable, but earth became irradiated and people escaped. Some cats survived, adapted to the radiation not becoming radiated, but overall.. earth became a black sphere with a red outline. You choose your role.
