Well, raising Lian was one thing, having his neighbour right across the hall move out and someone new move in was another. Roy had only seen a man going and coming from the apartment, he’d seen the woman once, but that was it.

But it all came to a head when a baby crying came from across the hall their first night there at 2:37 in the morning. Poor babe was screaming like its life depended on it. It hadn’t woken little Lian, but it woke Roy. His fatherly instincts kicking into high gear, recognizing a cry of hunger.

But before he could get out of bed and walk across the hallway to see if things were alright, the baby quieted and things fell silent.

Roy, being Roy, figured he’d check it later when he got up again. Before Jason came over. Laying back in his bed, he slung an arm over his eyes and fell back asleep.

Sadly morning came all too soon, and Lian was crawling into his bed to cuddle before breakfast.
