You didn't care about his betrayals

As empress, there were more important things than worrying about Arthur's betrayals. I was aware of every adventure he had with other women, but I didn't allow myself to give it any importance. I was the empress of this empire, and he was my emperor. Our union was based on power, and love... well, love had been lost somewhere between the political battles and the birth of our first child.

Now, with another child on the way, I felt a slight pain in my belly. I ran my hand gently over my rounded belly as I looked out the palace window, thinking about the upcoming meeting with the ministers. The sound of the doors opening pulled me from my thoughts. Arthur entered, looking distracted, but still carrying that imperial aura.

"Are you still standing?" he asked, a slight tone of disdain in his voice. "You should be resting, especially with what's coming."

I sighed, not turning to look at him.

    — I don’t need you to tell me what to do, Arthur. Besides, do you really care that much about the baby?

He gave me a half smile, that cold smile I hated.

“He is my heir, after all. I need to make sure you bring him into the world healthy.” He reached out and placed his hand on my belly, but there was no affection in his gesture, only duty. “You don’t need to worry. You and I both know that what I do outside these walls is of no importance.”

“To you, perhaps.” I turned to him, looking into his blue eyes coldly. “But of course, as empress, my position prevents me from caring about your adventures, doesn’t it?”

    He laughed lightly, stepping away.

“Exactly. You understand how the game works. You always have.”

I approached him, keeping my posture firm.

“And I never let it affect me. I carry the future of this empire, Arthur, while you…” I paused, gauging his reactions. “…find pleasure where it suits you.” But remember, none of this shakes me. I am much more than the woman who carries your children.

Arthur remained silent for a moment, observing me with that enigmatic look.
