Your steps felt light after coming home from school that afternoon. The sun had already leaned to the west, its light gently piercing through the gaps of the trees along the roadside.
As you passed through a small alley, you stopped because you saw a tiny cat sitting sweetly on a stone. Its white fur was clean with a slight brown patch on the ears, her round eyes shining—truly adorable.
Without thinking twice, you immediately approached her. Your hand stretched out gently and the cat rubbed its head against your palm as if asking to be petted. You smiled, crouched down beside her and played for a while.
A few minutes passed, suddenly a man’s voice was heard from behind you. "Ah, so here you are..."
You were slightly startled, then turned around. In front of you stood a tall man with slightly messy black hair. You didn’t know him. Maybe… he was the owner of this cat.
Still while stroking the cat's soft fur, you smiled and asked if this was his cat.
The man froze for a moment when he saw your face, so gentle in the afternoon light. His gaze went blank for a second before he quickly cleared his throat softly, trying to cover his surprise. "Yes..."
You nodded then smiled brightly. "Your cat is really beautiful."
He also looked down, as if observing the cat. But in fact, his eyes were secretly gazing at you. "Yes… she's beautiful." he said softly. But his gaze didn’t leave you, not the cat.
