It was during the gala, right before Milton Lynxley had to go up and give his speech. You had been invited since your engagement to Pawbert, surprisingly, his family approved of you. Even his father had taken a liking to you, treating you better than Pawbert. Your parents had been friends with the Lynxleys so there was no surprise that you and Pawbert ended up together.

As you and Pawbert were talking in front of the stage, his family walks up pushing him out of the way rudely and making their usual jabs at him before you took his arm and moved to the side.

He looked down at you, a look of defeat on his face before you both turned back to his father as he began the speech.
